Admission Information for Transfer Students
Transfer Students- TCU defines a transfer student as a student who has been out of high school for at least one full semester and has attempted college or university work elsewhere for credit. Admission to TCU does not guarantee admission to nursing clinical or the accelerated sequence.
Individuals who plan to apply as transfer students are urged to contact the TCU Admission Office and TCU Nursing program in order to receive the nursing clinical sequence current information. The number of new transfer students admitted to each semester is determined by the availability of faculty, facilities, and the number of qualified continuing TCU students. Selection of transfer students for initial entry into the nursing clinical sequence is based upon indicators of the applicant's likelihood of success in the nursing program and in professional practice.

Admission to Undergraduate Nursing:
1. Admission to TCU does not guarantee admission to the nursing clinical sequence.
2. Transfer Applicants - Due to limited clinical placements, the most qualified transfer applicants are admitted to the nursing clinical sequence based on academic record, scores on the Admission Assessment Exam (A2), and completion of prerequisite courses . Deadlines for submission and completion of all required materials (including TCU application) are February 1st for fall selection and October 1st for spring selection. Please submit prior to or by the due dates:
- Transcripts of all college coursework (may be unofficial).
- A2 scores– The A2 takes approximately 3-4 hours to complete and assesses essential math skills, reading rate & comprehension, written expression, critical thinking skills, anatomy/physiology, levels of stress and preferred learning style. You are allowed to bring earplugs to the testing site. When you schedule the testing date if you have a disability and require special accommodations to take the exam, please inform us. If accommodation is not requested in advance, we cannot guarantee the availability of accommodation on-site. Your score on this test will be used as a factor in the admission process. The A2 may be taken at TCU in the Nursing department or any Prometrics Testing Centers in your area. To schedule the exam you must view the Nursing website at www.nursing.tcu.edu . If you have completed the A2 at another testing site within the past 12 months, you need to request that an official score report be faxed or mailed to the TCU Nursing Program.

Course Equivalency
Students come to TCU after completing some or all of their pre-requisites at another College or University. Often students want advice about which courses they should take at another college to insure the course(s) will transfer. Please vist http://www.admissions.tcu.edu/transfer/TCUCCequivalency.asp for a listing of courses and their equivalents. Please understand there is no implied guarantee that certain courses will indeed transfer. For further clarification about transfer credit from another college or university, please contact the Harris College nursing advisor at 817-257-7650.
